Kinship or Relative Care refers to families who have full-time care of a relative’s child.
The Kinship Care Regional Project was developed in response to the increasing demand for support services and access to information for relative carers in the Blue Mountains, Penrith and Hawkesbury areas.
The project aims to:
* Initiate advocacy for relative carers at a local, state and federal level.
* Provide accessible and relevant information to relative carers including our downloadable Resource Kit for Relative Carers.
The Resource Kit was developed to provide information relating to financial assistance and legal issues for relative carers.
The kit also includes a collection of stories by relative carers which identifies the complex challenges that some families face.
The kit is also available by calling the Neighbourhood Centre on 4751 3033 for your free copy. For multiple copies a postage and handling fee may apply.
* Facilitate relative carer support groups.
